We are sincerely gratified to have you as our subscriber. As most of what is discussed about China by mainstream media outlets is either inaccurate or misleading, we have recognized the need for someone to provide you with comprehensive and genuine insights on the country’s unique agritech ecosystem. This project is dedicated to showing you the true side of China’s agricultural evolution.
Our goal is to unpack the stories, innovations, and market movements that really matter—beyond the headlines and surface-level coverage. Each week, we bring you actionable insights and a clear view of how China’s agritech landscape is shaping the future of food and farming globally.
This Week’s Headliner
China Achieves Deep Integration of Biotechnology and AI: World’s First Robot of its Kind

Imagine having a full-process intelligent breeding robot accurately identify flowers and gently reach its robotic arm to facilitate cross-pollination effectively. Its name is “Jier“ (GEAIR), and it's the world’s first of its kind, capable of enabling faster and more efficient seed development.
This technology could shift agriculture from “experience-based“ to “precision-driven,“ expanding the horizon for food security, space farming, and the preservation of endangered crop species. Jier can speed up the creation process of male sterile soybean lines, which could significantly increase yield per unit area. [1] [2] [3]

China’s Agri E-Commerce Surges: 2025 Mid-Year Report
Rural online retail sales grew 6.2% year-on-year, as farm product sales climbed 7%, both outpacing the country’s GDP growth of 5.3%. Livestream e-commerce keeps booming, with over 65,000 new companies registered and transaction value surging to 3.1 trillion yuan (about 434 billion US dollars), a 28% increase. Precision Planting Boosts Corn Yields in Inner Mongolia
A large-scale field demonstration in Tongliao, Inner Mongolia, showcased the Crop Science Institute of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS)’s new dense-planting precision regulation technology for corn. The system was rolled out across 10.32 million mu in 2025 and has extended its impact to more than 20 million mu region-wide. Results: average yields on one million mu reached 945.3 kg per mu, a jump of over 30% compared with traditional planting. [1] [2]

China Launches National Crop Germplasm Platform
China has begun trial operations of its National Crop Germplasm Information Platform (click to access the platform), which integrates collection, evaluation, storage, and sharing of over 300,000 germplasm resources across 26 crops. The platform supports breeders, seed companies, and researchers with precise access to public and conditional resources, promoting innovation and breeding of improved crop varieties. You can access the platform here. [1]

China Powers Up “AI+Agriculture“
China is fast-tracking smart farming with the State Council’s new “AI + Agriculture” policy, pushing AI from research to national strategy. Highlights include AI Breeding Innovation (robots like GEAIR automate hybrid pollination), smart machinery (DJI and XAG are leaders), and data-driven management (AI tools dedicated to providing precise planting advice, pest alerts, yield predictions, and market insights).
